Albera Massif and Les Salines

50 minutes. The border that separates France from Alt Empordà to the north is marked by the Albera Natural Area of National Interest, a massif of considerable dimensions that contains a remarkable natural, landscape, prehistoric and Romanesque heritage.

The Sierra de Les Salines is the natural continuation of the Albera mountain range beyond the Cuello de Pertús pass (in La Jonquera), and is also an area of natural interest. It represents a clear example of the contrast between the landscapes of L'Empordà and the mountains of the Eastern Pyrenees.
