Albanyà
5 minutes. Albanyà is just a kilometre from Bassegoda Park. An old village with a lot of history, it is perfect for long walks to discover its cultural and human heritage. It is the entrance to the Alta Garrotxa Area of Natural Interest from the Alt Empordà and to the Albanyà International Dark-Sky Park. All the natural surroundings of the campsite are within its territory!

Sant Llorenç de la Muga
10 minutes. Sant Llorenç de la Muga is 8 kilometres from Bassegoda Park. It is a Mediaeval village with one of the best preserved historic quarters in the Alt Empordà region and the province of Girona. There are gateways, walls, streets and stone houses, etc. On the banks of the Muga and with very similar surroundings to Albanyà, you will fall in love with Sant Llorenç de la Muga!
La Jonquera
40 minutes. La Jonquera is placed at the border with France. As a border town, it is home to a large amount of movement and commerce. The area is full of large shopping centres and restaurants, etc. We are sure you will find everything you need here!

Figueres
30 minutes. Figueres is the capital of the Alt Empordà region and the second largest town in the province of Girona. It has shops, heritage, culture, leisure... everything! The Dalí Theatre-Museum is also in Figueres; designed by the genius Salvador Dalí, it is the most visited museum in Catalonia and a museum of worldwide importance.
Olot
60 minutes. Olot is the capital of the Garrotxa region, and is exceptionally located between the Garrotxa Volcanic Area nature reserve and the Alta Garrotxa Area of Natural Interest, two spectacular areas. Furthermore, it is a city of museums, cultural routes, dynamic commerce, etc.
Churches and hermitages of Albanyà
The municipality of Albanyà comprises a handful of villages in the Alt Empordà that were gradually depopulated during the 20th century: Lliurona, Bassegoda, Pincaró, Carbonills, Corsavell, etc. It includes more than a dozen churches, all Romanesque and pre-Romanesque. Many can be accessed on foot or by bike via paths or trails through the natural surroundings of Albanyà, and others can be reached by car, such as Mare de Déu del Mont.
Alta Garrotxa Area of Natural Interest

Full of forests, mountains, rivers, trails and natural formations, it has a very small human footprint (except for churches and a few farmhouses) and a special and unique starry night sky. Darnius-Boadella Reservoir
30/40 minutes. The Muga cliffs are a natural formation along the river course through Sant Llorenç de la Muga and at the entrance to the Darnius-Boadella reservoir. An area of many diverse flora and fauna, it is an unusual natural area. The Darnius-Boadella reservoir is one of the largest in the province of Girona and supplies water to many villages in the Alt Empordà region. The whole family can enjoy doing water sports here and taking long walks around it.
Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park
45 minutes. The Aiguamolls de l’Empordà marshlands are a natural formation at the Fluvià and Muga estuaries. They are the most important marshlands in Catalonia, after the Delta de l’Ebre. They have a biodiversity of flora and fauna that make the area unique.
Cap de Creus Natural Park
60 minutes. Cap de Creus is a rocky peninsula marking the end of the Pyrenees in the Mediterranean Sea. It is a very unusual area with special biodiversity and contains the unique fishing village of Cadaqués, considered one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, and Salvador Dalí’s famous house in Portlligat.
Albera Massif and Les Salines
50 minutes. The Paratge Natural d’Interès Nacional de l’Albera constitutes the border separating France from the Alt Empordà region to the north. It is a significant massif with important natural, landscape, pre-historic and Romanesque heritage. The Serra de les Salines is the natural continuation of Albera beyond El Coll de Pertús (in La Jonquera), and is also an area of natural interest. It is a clear example of the contrast between the landscapes of the Empordà and the mountains of the eastern Pyrenees.
Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park
70 minutes. In the heart of La Garrotxa region, there are tens of dormant volcanoes that form the best example of a volcanic area on the Iberian Peninsula. The humid climate has created abundant vegetation that has covered the volcanoes for centuries.
